Stackmon Shiny vs Foil: Stats, Looks and Value

Shiny and Foil are separate Stackmon card variants: current players report Shiny affects base stats, while Foil changes presentation and card value.

8/21/2026 Last checked: 8/21/2026

Shiny and Foil are separate variants and do not combine on one card in the current community reports. Players describe Shiny as the stat-focused hunt because it has maximum base stats, while Foil is a visual card treatment.

Steam’s official achievement list supports the separation: Shiny Tracker and Foil Chaser are different achievements, and Foil Creator tracks creating a Foil Stackmon.

The current Steam discussion is direct about the first, second, and fourth rows. Foil resource behavior comes from creator footage and should be rechecked on the exact card in the formal version.

Which Is Better?

For a Stackmon you plan to use, the community answer favors Shiny because base stats affect its long-term ceiling. For a display collection, Foil may be the more distinctive card.

Use this order:

  1. species or element that solves your route;
  2. skills and abilities that match its job;
  3. Shiny when you care about the best base-stat roll;
  4. Foil when collection presentation or card-specific value matters.

Do not replace a useful regular card with a weak-fit rare variant merely because it sparkles.

How to Verify a Card

Right-click or inspect the card and compare:

  • HP;
  • attack;
  • attack speed;
  • work speed;
  • critical chance;
  • skills and passive abilities;
  • visible Foil treatment.

Creator footage shows these stats on Stackmon cards. The exact stat layout or terminology may move, but comparing the actual cards is safer than judging the artwork.

Does Evolution Preserve the Variant?

The public evidence collected for this page does not yet provide a reliable formal-version answer for every evolution path. Do not spend a rare Evolution Gem on the assumption that a visual or stat property will behave a certain way.

Before evolving:

  1. save normally;
  2. inspect the pre-evolution card;
  3. use the Evolution Gem compatibility test;
  4. inspect the result and record what changed.

Foil Card Economy

One creator walkthrough states that sellable Foil cards sell for more and limited-use Foil cards can have more uses. Because that footage predates or surrounds release, treat the card’s current tooltip as the authority.

That gives Foil three possible values:

  • collection appearance;
  • higher sale value on a sellable card;
  • extra uses on a limited-use item or building.

Not every Foil card necessarily receives every benefit.

What Is Officially Confirmed

The official achievement page confirms separate Shiny and Foil collection goals. The official Steam store confirms Rare and Legendary editions in the wider collection, but it does not publish a full variant-stat formula.

Evidence Note

Checked 21 August 2026. Variant separation and the Shiny-stat/Foil-visual distinction are current community reports; Foil economy behavior is creator-reported and version-sensitive.
